Read the second article by Nathan Helsing HERE and my thoughts below.
Coaches Thoughts;
To elaborate on each of the points in Helmings article – I wish to state how Synergy Strength not only meets, but exceeds all points considered.
1) Do your research.
Agreed. There are CrossFit’s popping up everywhere, many of which I would not recommend due to improper training and knowledge of coaches involved. If I were to have a member go visit a CrossFit in another city I usually can recommend a good one as there are many, but each city has its gems. Synergy Strength is no exception (my biased opinion of course). We offer a full month entry program to ensure all those starting feel comfortable with the surroundings and our system. Our coaches are among the most educated and the only that I know that are part of a development program designed to share knowledge and experience to move forward as a team.
2) Be responsible for your own limiters and weakness
Expanding on the point above – our coaches are trained to see weaknesses and potential injuries in clients and t6o bring it to attention to ensure it is addressed. I routinely meet with members to provide programs to address weaknesses and or develop weaknesses to ensure true balance within our training.
3) Prioritize mobility, lifting mechanics, strength, power and metabolic conditioning in that order.
I routinely speak of the “three fingers” of Synergy Strength – Mechanics, consistency, intensity. We teach and learn movements in this order everyday. A focus on mechanics and a consistency of those mechanics across multiple exposures and demands will allow for proper intensity and performance in the long haul.
4) Prioritize your sport.
At Synergy we offer multiple different membership options that allow for those involved in other sports to train as frequently as they like. Members are not locked into membership packages and are not required to pay flat fees for gym use as we believe it is correct to pay for what you use and what you need.
4) Be patient and keep a long view.
This is emphasized for all athletes at Synergy – if you commit yourself to the program, you will be successful – guaranteed.
