What is this Program all about?

This is by far one of the most interesting classes we offer.  The mobility class is a combination of multiple methods of stretching, foam rolling, myo-fascial release, and movement quality improvement.  This is not your basic yoga or pilates class, but so much more as it applies to not only general health, but improvement in your workouts as well due to increased range of motion, suppleness, and movement efficiency.  This Synergy offering can be added to your weekly routine after workouts or on rest days to improve your strength levels via better position, to decrease your potential for injury by improving joint range of motion,  to decrease soreness and increase recovery potential, as well as increase your quality of life with increased mobility.  Anyone and everyone can use increased mobility.

Class times are;

Monday 9:00am – Roll and Release

Wednesday 9:00am – Functional

Friday 9:00am – Restorative

Tuesday 5:00+6:00pm – Gymnastics foundations

The Roll and Release class will utilize tools like the foam roller, lacrosse balls and bands to enhance your mobility. These tools are a great way to massage stiff tissue, allow a deeper lengthening of the muscles and improving mobility. Foam rolling will start the class, followed by simple, dynamic and effective stretches. This is an excellent class for athletes, people who feel stiff or anyone looking for deep muscle release.

Restorative – Friday 9:00am

The Restorative class was designed as a class that will move you toward deep relaxation, utilizing gentle movements with a focus on decompression of the spine and a gentle opening of the hips, therefore calming the sympathetic nervous system. This gentle approach helps to reduce the effects of daily stress – a great way to balance out an active lifestyle.

Functional Mobility – Wednesday – 9:00am

Movement quality is an essential component to reducing the risk of injury and reaching optimal levels of performance. Achieving a certain degree of flexibility is absolutely critical for anyone involved in sports; otherwise there will be at some stage a breakdown in body tissues leading to an injury. The Functional Mobility class is designed to improve your movement quality, movement patterns and make you a more efficient mover, this will help you reach your optimal level of performance.

Don’t kid yourself if you never stretch: it is only a matter of when you get injured, not if. In addition, if you are too tight in certain parts of your body, you are functioning below your real potential – remember that performance enhancement is the second very important reason to stretch: flexible muscles perform a lot better than tight muscles.

Gymnastic Foundations – Tuesday 5+6:00pm

The gymnastics class will help develop a foundation of flexibility, necessary to optimally perform the gymnastic skills used in crossfit (kipping pull-up, handstand, handstand push-up). The primary focuses will be shoulder, back, and hip flexibility. Gymnasts do not necessarily possess unusual muscle strength or elasticity, rather they develop their flexibility through a regimen of regular stretching and flexibility exercises.

Yin – Thursday 5+6:00pm

The Yin classes will apply long, passive holds (no standing poses) to deeply penetrate the body’s connective tissue. It will help raise your vitality, increases flexibility and mental energy, and is calming for your mind and body. The Yin style of classes targets the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis, lower belly spine and shoulders. It is also a great complement to a regular training program.
