BCBD REMINDERS for Athletes

Just a few highlight REMINDERS for athletes pertaining to certain standards and other things they should be aware of for the weekend:

STANDARDS:

  • No dropping of the KB will be permitted – you will receive a no rep (and have to repeat that KBS)
  • Partners MUST tag each other throughout EVERY workout through the entire weekend, no reps will count until the tag is complete.
  • FALSE STARTS: Hand must not be touching the implement (bar, tire, false start on burpee/shuttle etc) before the go signal is given, if it does you will receive a no rep on any reps complete until after the go signal.
  • PENALTY’s for BURPEE/SHUTTLE workout: Cone displacement – 1 rep, FALSE start – 10 reps.
  • The Dball station in the Strongman workout is 90 SECS, so you will be going for another 30 seconds after the regular intervals of the rest of the workout. The judge will let you know when your time is complete.
  • DROPPING BARBELLS: Any barbells throughout the competition must come to shoulders first before being dropped to the ground (for safety reasons). If there are only 10#’s on either side you are not allowed to drop at all. You will receive a NO REP if this rule is broken.
  • For BURPEE/SHUTTLE hands, chest and thighs must touch behind the line, head does NOT have to be past the line.
  • BOTH feet must be FULLY on the box for rep to count in box jump standard

OTHER:

  • ATHLETE registration will start at 7am Saturday morning (will also be advanced registration available at the Friday night Gala at 5:30pm). All athletes will need to gather for ATHLETE BRIEFING every morning at 7:30am. First heat each day starts at 8am sharp.
  • HEAT SCHEDULE will be posted on the Beat Down webpage, as well as in the athletes area. Athlete is responsible for being ready for their heat when it is called. If you miss your heat you will receive a score of 0 for that workout (as there will not be a chance to get you in any other heat)
  • snacks & refreshments will be provided for athletes, but will not suffice for full nutrition needed for the day – so bring your own food
