REST DAY

Like always we do have OPEN GYM time available to all participants, but the above hours are the coached hours.  One of the changes that we will be implementing next week will be a MANDATORY group start time for the coached classes.  Especially in the evenings when things are busy, we need to have a “start time” – this will allow the coach to go over the workout with ALL athletes and answer any questions that are posed.  This will save time for the coaches as well as help with utilization of equipment as people will be able to partner and group on platforms and in workouts rather than simply showing up and starting as an individual.  This will make for a good use of  equipment as well as a implementing team development and participation.

ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS;

Now that we have the “gap” program available (FITNESS), we can now implement a standardized entrance qualification process.  Moving forward the qualifications to entering the SPORT program will be;

TIME COMMITMENT:

– Participants will have had to be a part of Synergy Strength for a minimum of 3 months (unless participant has previous experience with CrossFit)

– Participants will have had to be a part of the FITNESS program for a minimum of 1 month (unless participant has previous experience with CrossFit)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

The “Basic Starting Standards” chart provided by Starting Strength gives strength standards for untrained to elite trainees.  As a SPORT program candidate you will be require at minimum to attain INTERMEDIATE status in all strength movements on this chart (back squat, press, bench press, deadlift, power clean).

Click HERE for “Basic Strength Standards”

Additional strength standards on bodyweight movement will be;

Movement Male Female
Pull-ups – Strict/Kipping 3/12 1/5
Push-ups – Full 15 8
T2B – Strict/Kipping 3/10 1/5

On top of  the basic strength standards we will also be looking at some basic conditioning standards;

Skill Male Female
500m Row 1:35 1:50
Jackie – Rx’d 10:00 min or better 12:00min or better
Fight Gone Bad (3 rounds) 275 225

In all there are 13 standards – participants will be required to meet at least 11 of these standards in order to be allowed to participate int eh SPORT program.  If there are lagging skills that need to be brought up then the FITNESS program should be used to develop these skills and the SPORT standards are then used as a guide to challenge and motivate athletes to train their weaknesses.

All current SPOT members will be grandfathered in, even if they do not reach the current standards, but all future participants will be required to meet these standards before entering the program.  If participants do know all their numbers they will be required to complete all tests in one week of training to find their numbers and times for workouts. The standards are simply used to guarantee safety with regard to understanding and competency of movements.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and we can discuss any issues/concerns you may have.
