SYNERGY Powerlifting Meet to be one of the premier contests in the country

Synergy Strength and Conditioning will be hosting its first competition at their new location, which will prove to be one of the premier annual Powerlifting contests in the country. With the deadline for registration one week away the meet is shaping up to be one of the biggest 3-lift competitions in the province. The meet has attracted some of the top Powerlifters in Saskatchewan, which will provide some very interesting battles throughout the competition.

The junior division expects a tight contest between female and male competitors alike, vying for the rights to the “Best Classic Junior Award”. Favorites for this award are Samantha Solie fresh off of her Commonwealth squat record in Manukau New Zealand, as well as Cydney Arnold. Cydney has 4 Provincial records and international experience herself, competing in the first ever Classic World Cup in Stockholm Sweden. Not to be out done, the boys division includes Synergy’s own Danny Heintz holder of the provincial squat record and Christian Pearce holding 3 provincial records himself.

The Women’s divisions also hosts some intriguing battles between two of the top 5 provincially ranked women in Valarie Perry and Angela Desjarlais, both competing in the 72kg open division. Finally the Men’s division is expected to come down to the final deadlifts to determine the overall title with four of the top 10 provincially ranked men planning to compete, as well as Alberta’s 120kg Provincial Champion Brody Laybolt. The men’s lineup includes National and Provincial Champion Koltan Huget, as well as Provincial record holders Mitch Gardiner, Jeff Bilyk and Stu Christensen.

The venue will provide restorative services (massage therapy and physiotherapy) for competitors as well as a lifting environment that won’t want to be missed. Anyone planning to compete should get his or her registrations in as soon as possible to ensure a spot in the lifting lineup.
