Boss Strength Institute (Scotty Butcher and Chad Benko) put on a full weekend course on strength training called “The BOSS Strength – Foundations in Strength Training for General Populations”. The weekend was a huge success with 15 individuals taking in the first BOSS full weekend course. We had individuals from all across the province attend – from physiotherapists, exercise therapists, personal trainers, to fitness enthusiasts. We also had a few Synergy Strength trainers take the course in (Crystal Derry, Jason Trinh, and Dave Spurr) – below are their testimonials on how the weekend went.
The weekend content was as follows;
– Boss Strength Institute beliefs and mission
– Research on Strength training – the benefits?, the why?, the how? etc.
– Foundational 3 movement pattern assessment – hip hinge, push/pull (scapular motion), and the deep squat
– Fundamental 5 exercise progressions, regressions and proper technique along with the applicable research
– Practical core training – silly BS training and what the cores roles are
– Research review of the squat and the joint kinematics and kinetics
– Programming concepts for beginners and intermediates in strength training (BOSS base program and beginner/intermediate templates and explanations)
