SYNERGY OLY Meet

525814_10151352563167604_2145323224_n On Saturday February 8th SYNERGY will be hosting a Olympic Weightlifting Competition for the Saskatchewan Weightlifting Association (SWA). Anyone is welcome to compete, and anyone is welcome to come watch (will be a $5 entry fee)! As like all SYNERGY events, this will be an event that stands out. This event will be run with the highest standards in mind as Claire and Chad are chairing the Canadian Senior Nationals this year here in Saskatoon, so this will be an opportunity to do a “test run” of some of their plans for the national event.

This competition will be subject to doping control (important for those trying to qualify for nationals). CLICK HERE FOR CONTEST DETAILS & REGULATIONS.

This year we will be awarding;
– Best Overall Male lifter
– Best Overall Female lifter
– Best Overall junior Lifter
– Top 3 places in each category as well.

What is involved in a Olympic Lifting Competition? Athletes compete again others in the same weight category and get 3 attempts (at each) to get their best Snatch and Clean & Jerk numbers for a total score. Lifts are subject to IWF standards (i.e. some of that CrossFit crap will not cut it…as an example no press outs allowed), so this is a great thing to train for a be legit on your lifts. If you are interested in learning more or have any questions please contact val@synergystrength.ca or talk to one of the coaches at the gym.
